Airdog recommends the X3 for bedrooms, home offices, and other relatively small rooms of up to 20 m² (215 ft²). The more powerful X5, on the other hand, is able to purify an area of up to 42 m² (450 ft²) and can thus be used in mid-sized rooms as well.

In both instances, the recommended room size is based on five air changes per hour (ACH). If you live somewhere with only low to moderate air pollution and are thus content with two ACH, the coverage area would increase to 50 m² (538 ft²) and 105 m² (1125 ft²), respectively.

Airdog’s filtration process starts with a pre-filter which collects larger pollutants such as hair and pet dander. Next, a wire frame electrifies smaller particles like bacteria and germs before they are destroyed by an ionic field and eventually captured by a collecting plate.

Working Noise

In sleep mode, the X3 and X5 operate at an extremely low noise level of 22 decibels (dB). Running at full speed, the smaller model generates up to 58 dB of noise, while the more powerful X5 maxes out at around 63 dB.

Both can be set to auto mode, in which they will automatically adjust their fan speed based on air quality. As soon as the amount of pollutants in the air starts to decrease again, the fan speed and noise level of the X3 and X5 will decrease accordingly.

Sensors & Display

A built-in sensor allows the two purifiers to detect airborne pollutants in their surroundings. This data is then processed to create a real-time Air Quality Index (AQI), which in turn is used as input for the automatic mode.

Connectivity & Compatibility
