In this Airdog X5 vs Molekule Air Pro review, we will compare the respective mid-level and high-end devices of the Los Angeles, California and Palm Beach Gardens, Florida-based companies.
Both models employ patented technology, allowing them to remove contaminants up to six times smaller than competitors using only HEPA filters. Both received FDA 510(k) clearance as Class II medical devices. So how do they differ, and which one is the better fit for your needs?
This side-by-side comparison will help you find out.

Comparison: Airdog X5 vs Molekule Air Pro – What are the Differences?
Coverage Area & Efficiency
Airdog recommends the X5 for mid-sized rooms with a surface area of up to 42 m² (450 ft²), while the Molekule Air Pro is suitable for up to 18.6 m² (200 ft²). In both instances, the suggestion is based on five air changes per hour (ACH).
If you neither suffer from allergies or asthma nor live somewhere with elevated pollution levels, and are thus content with the two ACH sufficient for regular air cleaning, the covered area would increase to 105 m² (1125 ft²) and 47 m² (500 ft²), respectively.
Winner: Airdog X5
Up to 42 m² (450 ft²)
Up to 18.6 m² (200 ft²)
Clean Air Delivery Rate
Airdog’s filtration process starts with a pre-filter which collects larger pollutants such as hair and pet dander. Next, a wire frame electrifies smaller particles like bacteria and germs before they are destroyed by an ionic field and eventually captured by a collecting plate.
In the final step, odors are neutralized by a catalyst filter. Airdog’s patented TPA technology allows the X5 to remove 99.9% of particles as small as 0.0146 μm, giving it an advantage over competitors using HEPA filters that only remove particles down to 0.1 μm.
The Molekule Air Pro captures 99.97% of pollutants and irritants with a True HEPA pre-filter, and then uses Photo Electrochemical Oxidation (PECO) technology to destroy them at a molecular level by triggering a light-activated catalytic reaction on the surface of the filter.
Lastly, a layer of carbon helps it neutralize odors and gases. The Air Pro does all this at a calculated rate of 241 m³/h, quite a bit below the official Clean Air Delivery Rate (CADR) of 350 m³/h for the X5. And unlike its competitor’s, the X5’s filters are also washable.
Winner: Airdog X5
350 m³/h (206 CFM)
241 m³/h (142 CFM)
Working Noise
In sleep mode, the Airdog X5 operates at a noise level of just 22 decibels (dB). This makes it significantly quieter than the Molekule Air Pro and most other devices on the market. On the upper end, the two purifiers max out at 63 and 64 dB, respectively.
Both models support auto mode, in which they will automatically adjust their fan speed based on air quality. As soon as pollution levels start to decrease again after a sudden spike, their fan speed and noise level will decrease accordingly.
Winner: Airdog X5
22 – 63 dB(A)
33 – 64 dB(A)
Sensors & Display
To gather the real-time data needed for the auto mode, the X5 relies on a built-in sensor to keep track of the amount of particles in the air. The Molekule Air Pro cannot only measure the concentration levels of particles, but also chemicals, CO2, and relative humidity.
In both models, a colored indicator reveals the current air quality at a quick glance, while the exact amount of particles is visible on their displays. Even more detailed information is available through their respective apps (see below).

Weight & Dimensions
In the final round of this Airdog X5 vs Molekule Air Pro comparison, we will have a quick look at the weight and dimensions of the two devices. At 22.3 lbs (10.1 kg), the X5 is slightly less heavy than the Air Pro, but at the same time takes up slightly more space.
Winner: Draw
22.3 lbs, 12.5 x 12.5 x 25.5 in
22.9 lbs, 10.9 x 10.9 x 23.1 in
Conclusion: Airdog X5 vs Molekule Air Pro – Which is the Better Air Purifier?
The Airdog Air Purifier X5 has a larger coverage area and achieves a higher CADR. It operates at an extremely low noise level in night mode, making it a great choice for light sleepers. We also like the washable filters, which help you save money and reduce waste.
The Molekule Air Pro may only be suitable for smaller rooms, but is just as good at capturing and destroying airborne pollutants. Its additional sensors allow it to provide more details about the air quality, and it can be integrated with your smart home.
