In this Dyson HP01 vs TP01 review, we will compare the entry-level devices of the HP and TP series from the Singapore-based brand of household appliances.
The HP01 is a three-in-one device that combines purification, cooling, and heating, while the TP01 is limited to purifying and cooling. But aside from their main functionalities, how else do they differ, and which one is the best fit for your needs?
This side-by-side comparison will help you find out.

Comparison: Dyson HP01 vs TP01 – What are the Differences?
Coverage Area & Efficiency
Dyson recommends the HP01 for rooms with a surface area of up to 27 m² (290 ft²). The TP01 comes with a slightly higher effective range of up to 33 m² (357 ft²). Both could be used in even bigger rooms, with the amount of air changes per hour (ACH) decreasing accordingly.
Using Dyson’s Air Multiplier technology, the HP01 and TP01 draw in distant pollutants and then project purified air evenly across the room. Depending on the layout of your home, you can choose between 0 and 70 degrees oscillation.

Clean Air Delivery Rate / Airflow
The HP01 and TP01 use a HEPA filter to capture 99.97% of particles as small as 0.3 microns and a layer of activated carbon to remove odors and gases including VOCs. Unfortunately, Dyson has not publicly disclosed the Clean Air Delivery Rate (CADR) of the HP01.
Instead, we will have to rely on the maximum airflow to make a comparison between the two devices. While the HP01 projects 200 liters (53 gallons) of purified air per second throughout the room, the TP01 reaches up to 434 liters (114.7 gallons).
Winner: TP01

70 m³/h (Particles)
Working Noise
Considering the higher airflow, the TP01 is surprisingly slightly less noisy than its competitor. It operates at around 62 decibels (dB) when running at full speed, and also generates less noise on the lower end at 32 dB compared to 35 dB for the HP01.
Winner: TP01
35 – 63 dB(A)
32 – 62 dB(A)
Sensors & Display
Neither the HP01 nor the TP01 are equipped with the intelligent sensors found in newer models, meaning they are unable to keep track of the current levels of PM 2.5, PM 10, NO2, and VOCs. LEDs on the bottom of either device only show you the current temperature.

Connectivity & Compatibility
Being entry-level models, the HP01 and TP01 can not be integrated with your smart home. A magnetized remote, which can be conveniently attached to the top of the machine, allows you to turn the devices on and off, adjust their speed, and also set a sleep timer.

Weight & Dimensions
In the final round of this Dyson HP01 vs TP01 comparison, we will have a quick look at the weight and dimensions of the two air purifers. At 3.9 kg (8.6 lb), the HP01 is slightly heavier. The TP01, on the other hand, takes up more space overall, mostly due to the height difference.
Winner: Draw
3.9 kg, 221 x 221 x 632 mm
3.6 kg, 196 x 196 x 1019 mm
Conclusion: Dyson HP01 vs TP01 – Which is the Better Air Purifier?
In contrast to its competitor, the Dyson Pure Hot+Cool HP01 is not only able to purify and cool air, but also provide heating. This makes it a great entry-level, three-in-one air purifier for everyone living in an area with widely changing temperatures.
If you live somewhere warm or already have a heating solution in place, opt for the Dyson Pure Cool TP01 instead. It comes with a slightly higher coverage area and, more importantly, a significantly higher airflow, all the while being less noisy.
