In this Dyson HP04 vs TP04 review, we will compare two mid-level devices of the HP and TP series from the Singapore-based brand of household appliances.
The TP04 is an air purifier that can also keep you cool during the summer. The HP04 is a three-in-one device that can additionally be used a heater. But aside from those main functionalities, how else do they differ, and which one is the best fit for your needs?
This side-by-side comparison will help you find out.

Comparison: Dyson HP04 vs TP04 – What are the Differences?
Coverage Area & Efficiency
Dyson recommends the HP04 for rooms with a surface area of up to 33 m² (357 ft²), while the TP04 comes with a coverage area of up to 55 m² (600 ft²). Both models could be used in even larger rooms, with the amount of air changes per hour (ACH) decreasing accordingly.
To first draw in distant particles and later project purified air throughout the room as evenly as possible, the HP04 and TP04 use Dyson’s Air Multiplier technology. In addition, they also let you choose between 0, 45, 90, 180, and 350 degrees oscillation.
Winner: TP04

55 m² (600 ft²)
Clean Air Delivery Rate
Utilizing a Glass HEPA filter, the HP04 and TP04 capture 99.97% of particles as small as 0.3 microns, and activated carbon to remove odors and gases including VOCs. The TP04 does all this at a rate of 164 m³/h for particles and 56 m³/h for formaldehyde.
Unfortunately, Dyson has not publicly disclosed the Clean Air Delivery Rate (CADR) of the HP04. Comparing its maximum airflow of 310 liters (82 gallons) per second to the 361 l/s (95.3 gallons) of the TP04, however, suggests that the TP04 has the higher CADR of the two.

Working Noise
Running at full speed, the TP04 operates at a noise level of around 64 decibels (dB) compared to 62 dB for the HP04. When set to sleep mode, the TP04 generates significantly less noise than its competitor at just 32 dB compared to 40 dB for the HP04.
Both models can also be switched to automatic mode, in which they will only run as fast and therefore as loud as needed to maintain healthy air quality. As soon as pollution levels start to drop after a spike, the HP04’s and TP04’s fan speed and noise level will decrease accordingly.
Winner: Draw
40 – 62 dB(A)
32 – 64 dB(A)
Sensors & Display
Intelligent sensors provide the HP04 and TP04 with the current temperature, humidity, and pollution levels inside the room. Changes are detected almost in real-time and can be used as input for the automatic mode (see above).
The current Air Quality Index (AQI) and details about PM 2.5, PM 10, VOCs, NO2, SO2, temperature, humidity, and filter life can be viewed on a built-in LCD, as well as remotely using your smartphone (see below).

Connectivity & Compatibility
Aside from changing settings on the device itself, there are three ways to interact with the HP04 and TP04. First, there is the remote which allows you to turn the purifier on and off, change oscillation, speed levels, set a timer, and activate auto or night mode.
You can also monitor and control the purifier remotely using a Wi-Fi connection, your smartphone, and the Dyson Link app. Lastly, thanks to their compatibility with Amazon’s Alexa, the HP04 and TP04 can also be controlled using only your voice.

Weight & Dimensions
In the final round of this Dyson HP04 vs TP04 comparison, we will have a quick look at the weight and dimensions of the two air purifiers. At 5.6 kg (12.36 lb), the HP04 is slightly more heavy. The TP04, on the other hand, takes up slightly more space.
Winner: Draw
5.6 kg, 205 x 205 x 764 mm
4.98 kg, 223 x 223 x 1054 mm
Conclusion: Dyson HP04 vs TP04 – Which is the Better Air Purifier?
Unlike its competitor, the Dyson Pure Hot+Cool HP04 has the capability to not only purify and cool, but also heat. So if you are looking for an air purifier that can heat a medium-sized room in the winter and cool it during the summer, the HP04 is definitely worth a closer look.
That said, if you live some place warm or already have your heating taking care of, you might want to opt for the Dyson Pure Cool TP04 instead. It comes with both a higher coverage area and CADR, and is also significantly quieter in sleep mode.
