Comparison: Dyson HP07 vs HP10 – What are the Differences?

Coverage Area & Efficiency

The HP07 can purify the air in a room with a surface area of up to 13 m² (135 ft²), while the HP10 is limited to just 7 m² (76 ft²). In both instances, the numbers are based on five air changes per hour (ACH) and a ceiling height of 2.4 m (8 ft).

Thus, the two purifiers could also be used for larger areas, with the amount of ACH decreasing accordingly. For example, if expect only moderate pollution levels and are content with two ACH, the covered area would increase to 32 m² (339 ft²) and 18 m² (191 ft²), respectively.

Winner: HP07

Up to 32 m² (339 ft²)

Up to 18 m² (191 ft²)

Clean Air Delivery Rate

Using Dyson’s 360 Combi Glass HEPA + Carbon air purifier filter, the HP07 and HP10 remove 99.97% of particles and allergens as small as 0.3 μm, such as pollen, dust, and pet dander. Following that, they use activated carbon to neutralize odours and gases including VOCs.

The HP07 does this at a rate of 151 m³/h for particles and 53 m³/h for formaldehyde, giving it a higher Clean Air Delivery Rate (CADR) than the HP10. Both models are fully sealed to HEPA H13 standard, preventing captured pollutants from leaking out of the machine.

Winner: HP07

151 m³/h (Particles) / 53 m³/h (Formaldehyde)

85 m³/h (Particles) / 40 m³/h (Formaldehyde)

Working Noise

In sleep mode, the HP07 operates at just 32 decibels (dB), giving it a significant advantage over its competitor. The HP10 is however the less noisy device when running at full speed, topping out at around 60 dB compared to 62 dB for the HP07.

Both models can be set to auto mode, in which they will automatically adjust their fan speed based on air quality. As soon as pollution levels start to decrease again after a sudden spike, their fan speed and noise level will decrease accordingly.

32 – 62 dB(A)

40 – 60 dB(A)

Sensors & Display

To collect the input data needed for the auto mode, the HP07 and HP10 are equipped with a particulate and a gas sensor that keep track of pollutants in real-time. The HP07 is additionally fitted with a humidity and temperature sensor.

An LCD screen found on both devices reveals the current and recent air quality. With the HP07, more detailed information such as 24H AQI, PM 2.5, PM 10, VOCs, NO2, and SO2 levels are available through the Dyson Link app (see below).

Conclusion: Dyson HP07 vs HP10 – Which is the Better Air Purifier?

With a larger coverage area, higher CADR, and lower noise level, the Dyson Purifier Hot+Cool HP07 is the undisputed winner of this contest. And unlike its competitor, it can also be monitored and controlled remotely using your smartphone or voice assistant.

If you have no intentions of integrating your air purifier with your smart home and have only a small room to purify, the Dyson Purifier Hot+Cool Gen1 HP10 might be worth a look. It, too, can keep you warm in the winter and cool in the summer, while selling at a lower price.
