In this Dyson HP09 vs TP09 review, we will compare the two high-end devices of the HP and TP series from the Singapore-based brand of household appliances.
Both are among the most advanced models that Dyson currently has to offer. Both can not only purify the surrounding air, but also keep you cool in summer. The HP09 even comes with an additional heating function. But how else does it differ from the TP09?
This side-by-side comparison will help you find out.

Comparison: Dyson HP09 vs TP09 – What are the Differences?
Coverage Area & Efficiency
Dyson recommends the HP09 and TP09 for rooms with a surface area with up to 74 m² (800 ft²). While they could be used in even bigger rooms, the amount of air changes per hour (ACH) would decrease accordingly.
Both models are equipped with Dyson’s Air Multiplier technology, giving them the ability to draw in distant pollutants and project purified air evenly throughout the room. Depending on the layout of your home, you can also have the HP09 and TP09 oscillate up to 350 degrees.

Clean Air Delivery Rate
After capturing up to 99.97% of particles and allergens including pollen, dust, and pet dander as small as 0.3 μm with a HEPA filter, the HP09 and TP09 remove odors and gases including VOCs with a layer of activated carbon.
With a Clean Air Delivery Rate (CADR) of 53 m³/h, the HP09 has the advantage when it comes to destroying formaldehyde. Meanwhile, the TP09 has the upper hand at removing particles, with a CADR of 171 m³/h compared to 165 m³/h for the HP09.
Winner: Draw
165 m³/h (Particles) / 53 m³/h (Formaldehyde)
171 m³/h (Particles) / 49 m³/h (Formaldehyde)
Working Noise
On the highest of the ten available speed settings, the TP09 operates at a slightly lower noise level than its competitor at around 60 decibels (dB) compared to 62 dB for the HP09. In sleep mode, however, it is the HP09 that has a minimal edge.
During the day, both models can be set to automatic mode, in which they will only run as fast and therefore as loud as needed to maintain healthy air quality. Once pollution levels start to drop again after a sudden spike, so will the fan speed and noise level of the HP09 and TP09.
Winner: Draw
30 – 62 dB(A)
32 – 60 dB(A)
Sensors & Display
Both models are fitted with a particulate sensor, gas sensor, and humidity and temperature sensor that provides them with latest information and acts as input for the automatic mode (see above). A fourth sensor allows the HP09 and TP09 to specifically detect formaldehyde.
All the data gathered by the sensors is then combined, making it possible for you to view real-time air quality reporting such as 24H AQI, PM 2.5, PM 10, VOCs, NO2, SO2, temperature, humidity, and filter life on the integrated LCD screen and via the Dyson Link app (see below).

Connectivity & Compatibility
There are three ways to interact with the HP09 and TP09. First, there is a remote that allows you to turn the device on and off, change oscillation, speed levels, set a timer, and change the mode. Thanks to a magnet, the remote can be conveniently attached to the top of the purifier.
You can also monitor and control the purifiers remotely using a Wi-Fi connection, your smartphone, and the Dyson Link app. Lastly, thanks to their compatibility with Amazon Alexa, Apple Siri, and Google Home, the HP09 and TP09 can also be controlled using only your voice.

Weight & Dimensions
In the final round of this Dyson HP09 vs TP09 comparison, we will have a quick look at the weight and dimensions of the two devices. At 5.7 kg (12.6 lb), the HP09 is the heavier model. The TP09, on the other hand, takes up more space, mostly due to the difference in height.
Winner: Draw
5.7 kg, 248 x 248 x 764 mm
4.85 kg, 220 x 220 x 1050 mm
Conclusion: Dyson HP09 vs TP09 – Which is the Better Air Purifier?
Both models are the most advanced ones in their respective series. If you are looking for a high-end air purifier that can not only keep you cool during the summer, but also keep you warm in the winter, opt for the Dyson Purifier Hot+Cool Formaldehyde HP09.
If you live somewhere with mild winters or already have heating installed, the Dyson Purifier Cool Formaldehyde TP09 is the better choice. It has almost similar performance metrics, can just as easily be integrated with your smart home, and is available at a slightly lower price.
