Dyson HP10 vs TP10

In this Dyson HP10 vs TP10 review, we will compare the two recently released mid-level devices of the HP and TP series from the Singapore-based company.

Both can be used as purifiers and fans at the same time. The HP10 can even keep you warm during cold winter nights. But which model performs better at capturing pollutants, and is the better fit for your needs?

This side-by-side comparison will help you find out.

Comparison: Dyson HP10 vs TP10 – What are the Differences?

Coverage Area & Efficiency

While the HP10 is able to purify rooms with a surface area of up to 18 m² (191 ft²), the TP10 can deal with up to 24 m² (258 ft²). In both instances, the suggestion is based on two air changes per hour (ACH) and a ceiling height of 2.4 m (8 ft).

If you live somewhere with elevated pollution levels, or suffer from allergies and asthma, and thus require five ACH, the recommended room size would decrease to just 7 m² (76 ft²) and 10 m² (103 ft²), respectively.

Winner: TP10

Clean Air Delivery Rate

Dyson’s 360 Combi Glass HEPA + Carbon air purifier filter allows the HP10 and TP10 to trap 99.97% of particles as small as 0.3 microns. The layer of activated carbon then helps them neutralize household odours and gases, including VOCs.

With a Clean Air Delivery Rate (CADR) of 115 m³/h compared to 85 m³/h, the TP10 is more efficient than the HP10 at removing particles. Both models are fully sealed to HEPA H13 standard, ensuring that the captured pollutants stay inside the machine.

Winner: TP10

115 m³/h (Particles) / 40 m³/h (Formaldehyde)

Working Noise

Operating at a noise level of 40 decibels (dB) in sleep mode, the HP10 is technically speaking quieter than the TP10 – although it is impossible to tell a difference without specialized tools. Running at full speed, the upper limit stands at 60 dB each.

Both models support auto mode, in which they will automatically adjust their fan speed based on air quality. As soon as they detect a decrease in pollution levels following a sudden spike, their fan speed and noise level will decrease accordingly.

Sensors & Display

The HP10 and TP10 rely on a particulate and a gas sensor to keep track of the amount of airborne pollutants in real-time. This information is then used as input for the automatic mode (see above), as well as being displayed on an LCD screen.

Connectivity & Compatibility

Unlike some other Dyson air purifiers such as the HP09 and TP09, the HP10 and TP10 can not be connected to your smartphone, and are also not compatible with voice assistants. Therefore, you will have to make do with the included remote to change settings from afar.

Weight & Dimensions

In the final round of this Dyson HP10 vs TP10 comparison, we will have a quick look at the weight and dimensions of the two devices. At 5.3 kg (11.66 lb), the HP10 is slightly heavier than its competitor, but at the same time takes up less space overall.

Conclusion: Dyson HP10 vs TP10 – Which is the Better Air Purifier?

While the Dyson Purifier Hot+Cool Gen1 HP10 does have a smaller coverage area and lower CADR, it comes with a heating functionality. If the size of your room allows it, and you want a purifier that can also keep you warm in the winter, the HP10 is worth a closer look.

Opt for the Dyson Purifier Cool Gen1 TP10 if you need to purify a larger area, or require more ACH. Especially when it comes to removing particles, it has an advantage over its competitor. And instead of keeping you warm, the TP10 can at least help cool you down in the summer.
