In this Dyson TP01 vs TP7A review, we will compare two popular air purifiers from the Singapore-based brand of household appliances.
Both can be used as air purifier and fan at the same time. Both are certified asthma and allergy friendly. So should you go with the entry-level Dyson Pure Cool TP01, or is the recently released Dyson Purifier Cool Autoreact TP7A the better choice?
This side-by-side comparison will help you find out.

Comparison: Dyson TP01 vs TP7A – What are the Differences?
Coverage Area & Efficiency
Dyson recommends the TP01 for up to 28 m² (300 ft²). The TP7A comes with a coverage area of up to 43 m² (460 ft²). While both devices could be used in even larger rooms, the amount of air changes per hour (ACH) would decrease accordingly.
The TP01 and TP7A combine Dyson’s Air Multiplier technology with oscillation to project purified air evenly across the room. You can choose between 45, 90, 180, and 350 degrees oscillation with the TP7A, compared to a maximum of 70 degrees with the TP01.
Winner: TP7A
Up to 28 m²
Up to 43 m²
Clean Air Delivery Rate
Capturing up to 99.97% of allergens and pollutants as small as 0.3 μm with a pre-filter and HEPA filter, the TP01 and TP7A are certified for being asthma and allergy-friendly by the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America.
Both are equipped with a layer of activated carbon, which allows them to remove odors and gases. But unlike the TP01, the TP7A is capable of removing formaldehyde. And with a Clean Air Delivery Rate (CADR) of 180 m³/h, it captures particles at a much higher rate than the TP01.
Winner: TP7A
70 m³/h (Particles)
180 m³/h (Particles), 46 m³/h (Formaldehyde)
Working Noise
Despite being the more powerful purifier of the two, the TP7A operates at a slightly lower noise level when running at full speed. On the lowest of the ten available speed settings, however, it is the TP01 that generates less noise.
The TP7A supports automatic mode, in which it will only run as fast and therefore as loud as needed. Once it detects that pollution levels are decreasing, it will decrease the fan speed accordingly. Unfortunately, this feature is not available in the TP01.

Sensors & Display
Intelligent sensors provide the TP7A with the current temperature, humidity, and pollution levels inside the room. Changes are detected almost in real-time and can be used as input for the automatic mode (see above).
The current Air Quality Index (AQI) and details about PM 2.5, PM 10, VOCs, NO2, SO2, temperature, humidity, and filter life can be viewed on a built-in LCD screen. As the TP01 is not equipped with these sensors, it does not offer any way to view the current pollution levels.

Yes / LCD
Connectivity & Compatibility
Neither the TP01 nor the TP7A can be connected to your smartphone via Wi-Fi. Therefore, you will have to rely on the remote to turn the device on and off, change oscillation, speed levels, or set a sleep timer.
The updated remote of the TP7A also allows you to activate the auto and sleep modes. If you want to be able to monitor and control your Dyson air purifier through your smartphone or smart voice assistant, consider the TP02 or TP07.

Weight & Dimensions
In the last round of this Dyson TP01 vs TP7A comparison, we will have a quick look at the weight and dimensions of the two devices. While the differences in base diameter and height are negligible, the TP01 is significantly lighter than the TP7A.
Winner: TP01

220 x 220 x 1050 mm, 4.65 kg
Conclusion: Dyson TP01 vs TP7A – Which is the Better Air Purifier?
If you are looking for an entry-level Dyson air purifier and don’t mind the missing smart features, the Dyson Pure Cool TP01 is worth a closer look. With its lower noise level on the lowest speed setting, it is a great choice for a bedroom or home office.
If you prefer the more powerful and advanced model of the two, however, opt for the Dyson Purifier Cool Autoreact TP7A. It comes with features such as automatic mode and a higher coverage area, but still sells at a reasonable price compared to some of the high-end models.
