Comparison: Dyson TP03 vs TP04 – What are the Differences?

Coverage Area & Efficiency

Dyson recommends the Pure Cool Link Tower TP03 for rooms with a surface area of up to 41 m² (450 ft²). The Pure Cool TP04, on the other hand, was designed to handle rooms with a surface area of up to 55 m² (600 ft²).

Both devices feature Dyson’s Air Multiplier technology, which ensures an uninterrupted stream of purified air. Additionally, an oscillation of up to 90° for the TP03 and up to 350° for the TP04 allows them to circulate clean, cool air evenly across the room.

Clean Air Delivery Rate

Unfortunately, Dyson has not disclosed the Clean Air Delivery Rate (CADR) for the TP03. But with the TP01 having a CADR of 70 m³/h and the TP04 one of 90 m³/h, we can assume that the numbers for the TP03 is somewhere in between.

The TP03 and TP04 utilize a 360° Glass H-13 HEPA filter combined with a carbon filter to capture 99.97% of allergens and air pollutants as small as 0.3 μm. Both devices were certified for being asthma and allergy-friendly by the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America.

Working Noise

Running at full speed, the TP03 generates around 62 decibels (dB) of noise. Although this is technically speaking less than the TP04, you will obviously not be able to notice a difference without using a specialized tool.

Both come with a sleep mode for quiet operation at night. During the day, the two air purifiers can be set to automatic mode, in which they will only run as fast and therefore as loud as needed to keep pollution levels down.

Sensors & Display

Intelligent sensors provide the TP03 and TP04 with the current temperature, humidity, and pollution levels inside the room. Changes are detected almost in real-time and can be used as input for the automatic mode (see above).

With the TP04, the Air Quality Index (AQI) and details about PM 2.5, PM 10, VOCs, NO2, SO2, temperature, humidity, and filter life can be viewed on an LCD screen. The TP02 only displays the current fan speed on a LED screen.

Connectivity & Compatibility

Aside from changing settings on the device itself, there are three ways to interact with the TP03 and TP04. First, there is the remote which allows you to turn the purifier on and off, change oscillation, speed levels, set a timer, and activate auto or night mode.

You can also monitor and control them remotely from another room or even another part of the world using a Wi-Fi connection, your smartphone, and the Dyson Link app. Lastly, both the TP03 and TP04 are compatible with smart home assistants.

Conclusion: Dyson TP03 vs TP04 – Which is the Better Air Purifier?

The Dyson Pure Cool Link Tower TP03 is a great choice if you are looking to buy your first smart air purifier that comes with automatic mode, connectivity capabilities, and all the other perks of modern devices.

But overall, the newer Dyson Pure Cool TP04 is the better choice. It comes with a higher coverage area, presumably higher CADR thanks to its improved HEPA filter, and is the first model of the TP series to feature a display with real-time information.
