Comparison: Jafända JF888 vs JF999 – What are the Differences?

Coverage Area & Efficiency

The JF888 has a coverage area of up to 71 m² (760 ft²), while the JF999 can even purify up to 85 m² (915 ft²). Therefore, both devices are suitable for large rooms such as classrooms and office spaces, or for middle-sized rooms with a high ceiling.

In both instances, the recommended room size is based on five air changes per hour (ACH). If you expect to encounter only moderate pollution and are thus content with two ACH, the covered area would increase to 177 m² (1900 ft²) and 212 m² (2287 ft²), respectively.

Clean Air Delivery Rate

In the first of three steps, the JF888 and JF999 use a pre-filter to take care of larger pollutants such as hair, pet fur, and fiber. Next, an H13 True HEPA filter captures 99.97% of particles as small as 0.1 microns, including bacteria, mold, pet dander, dust, and viruses.

Lastly, activated carbon neutralizes smoke, pet odors, cooking smells, and VOCs. The JF888 does all this at an already impressive rate of 830 m³/h (488 CFM). The JF999, which is also equipped with two 3-stage filtration systems, achieves a CADR of 1000 m³/h (588 CFM).

Working Noise

In sleep mode, the JF888 and JF999 operate at an extremely low noise level of just 22 decibels (dB). Running at full speed, the smaller model reaches a maximum of 54 dB, compared to up to 58 dB for the more powerful flagship model.

Both can be set to auto mode, in which they will automatically adjust their fan speed based on air quality. As soon as they detect a decrease in the amount of pollutants in the air, the fan speed and noise level of the JF888 and JF999 will decrease accordingly.

Sensors & Display

To gather the real-time data needed for the auto mode, both models are equipped with a high-accuracy laser sensor. The one inside the JF888 is able to detect PM1.0, PM2.5, and PM10, while the JF999’s sensor keeps track of PM2.5, temperature, and humidity.

A colored LED bar reveals the current air quality at a quick glance, with green signifying excellent and red unhealthy. The exact amount of pollutants is shown on the display, as well. Even more information is available through the Jafända app (see below).

Conclusion: Jafända JF888 vs JF999 – Which is the Better Air Purifier?

Unsurprisingly, the Jafända Air Purifier JF888 could not match the performance metrics of its successor. That said, it is still an extremely powerful purifier suitable for large rooms, and is also able to detect more types of airborne pollutants.

If you want the highest performing device, opt for the Jafända Air Purifier JF999. No other purifier from the brand has a higher coverage area or Clean Air Delivery Rate (CADR), and it is obviously equipped with all the features you would want in a modern air purifier.
