In this Levoit Core 200S vs LV-H132 review, we will compare two of the entry-level models of the Core and LV series from the fast-growing American brand for small home appliances.
Both were created as compact and budget-friendly air purifiers for small rooms. The LV-H132 was one of Levoit’s best-selling devices, but is no longer state of the art. Is it still worth it, or should you rather opt for the newer but similarly priced Core 200S?
This side-by-side comparison will help you find out.

Comparison: Levoit Core 200S vs LV-H132 – What are the Differences?
Coverage Area & Efficiency
While the Core 200S has an effective range of up to 17 m² (183 ft²), the LV-H132 is suitable for up to 12 m² (129 ft²). In both instances, the recommended room size is based on an assumed five air changes per hour (ACH) and a ceiling height of 2.4 m (8 ft).
Therefore, the two purifiers could be used in bigger rooms, with the amount of ACH decreasing accordingly. For example, if you expect only moderate air pollution and are thus content with two ACH, the coverage area would increase to 42 m² (457 ft²) and 30 m² (322 ft²), respectively.
Winner: Core 200S
Up to 17 m² (183 ft²)
Up to 12 m² (129 ft²)
Clean Air Delivery Rate
Using Levoit’s 3-stage filtration process, both models first utilize a pre-filter to deal with large pollutants including dust, hair, and pet fur. Next, an H13 True HEPA filter captures at least 99.97% of particles as small as 0.3 µm, for example, pollen and pet dander.
In the last step, smoke, fumes, VOCs, and household odors such as cooking smells and pet odors are neutralized by a layer of activated carbon. The Core 200S does all this at a rate of 200 m³/h (118 CFM), while the LV-H132 only manages a CADR of 68 m³/h (40 CFM).
Winner: Core 200S
200 m³/h (118 CFM)
68 m³/h (40 CFM)
Working Noise
In sleep mode, the Core 200S operates at a noise level of just 24 decibels (dB), minimally less than the 25 dB of its competitor. Despite being the more powerful device, it also bests the LV-H132 on the upper end, maxing out at 48 dB as opposed to 50 dB.
Three different speed levels are available in total. Unfortunately, neither the Core 200S nor the LV-H132 come with an automatic mode, so you will have to regulate the fan speed and thus the amount of noise generated manually.
Winner: Core 200S
24 – 48 dB(A)
25 – 50 dB(A)
Sensors & Display
The Core 200S and LV-H132 are not equipped with any dust sensors that would allow them to scan their surroundings. You could either use a third-party device to track air quality for you, or simply observe at which speed setting you start to feel a positive effect.
Consequently, there is no real-time information about the level of PM 2.5 and other pollutants visible on the display. In fact, the LV-H132 only allows you to turn on the night light and change the speed. The Core 200S offers some additional options, such as the ability to set a timer.

Connectivity & Compatibility
You can use a Wi-Fi connection, your smartphone, and the VeSync app to monitor and control the Core 200S remotely. This allows you to turn the purifier on and off, change the speed, create a schedule, view the remaining filter life, and more.
It is even possible to interact with the Core 200S using only your voice, which could come in handy when you have your hands full while cooking, for example. Since it is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant, it can be seemingly integrated with your smart home.

Weight & Dimensions
In the final round of this Levoit Core 200S vs LV-H132 comparison, we will have a quick look at the weight and dimensions of the two devices. At 2.7 kg (6 lb), the LV-H132 has a slightly lower weight. In terms of size, there is only a negligible difference.
Winner: LV-H132
3 kg, 205 x 205 x 320 mm
2.7 kg, 200 x 200 x 320 mm
Conclusion: Levoit Core 200S vs LV-H132 – Which is the Better Air Purifier?
The Levoit Air Purifier LV-H132 only managed to win one category of this match up, thanks to a 0.3 kg (0.66 lb) weight advantage. Considering that it has an identical list price, the only reason to pick it over its competitor would be if you found it at a massive discount.
Otherwise, your choice should undoubtedly be the Levoit Air Purifier Core 200S. It is able to cover a larger area, has a Clean Air Delivery Rate (CADR) almost three times the amount of the LV-H132, and can be monitored and controlled remotely thanks to its Wi-Fi capabilities.
