In this Levoit Core 300S vs PlasmaPro 300S review, we will compare two of the entry-level devices of the Core and PlasmaPro series from the fast-growing American brand for small home appliances.
Both were designed with smaller rooms in mind and come with all the features you would want in a modern air purifier, including the ability to integrate them with your smart home. Both look identical on the outside. So how do they differ?
This side-by-side comparison will help you find out. (TL;DR: It’s the PlasmaPro technology.)

Comparison: Levoit Core 300S vs PlasmaPro 300S – What are the Differences?
Coverage Area & Efficiency
With an effective range of up to 20 m² (219 ft²), the Core 300S and PlasmaPro 300S are ideal for bedrooms, home offices, and other relatively small rooms. The coverage area is based on an assumed five air changes (ACH) per hour in a room with a ceiling height of 2.4 m (8 ft).
Thus, both models could be used in even bigger rooms, with the amount of ACH decreasing accordingly. For example, if you live somewhere with moderate air pollution and are content with two ACH, the recommended room size would increase to up to 50 m² (548 ft²).

Clean Air Delivery Rate
In the first step of Levoit’s 3-stage filtration process, a pre-filter takes care of large pollutants including dust, hair, and pet fur. Next, an H13 True HEPA filter captures at least 99.97% of particles and allergens as small as 0.3 µm, for example, pollen and pet dander.
Lastly, smoke, fumes, VOCs, and household odors such as cooking smells and pet odors are neutralized by a layer of activated carbon. In the PlasmaPro model, there is an additional step where positive and negative ions bind with pollutants to break down their molecular structure.
Both the Core 300S and PlasmaPro 300S purify the air at a rate of 240 m³/h (141 CFM).

240 m³/h (141 CFM)

Working Noise
In sleep mode, the noise level of the PlasmaPro 300S drops to as low as 22 decibels (dB) as opposed to 24 dB for its competitor. However, the Core 300S operates at just 48 dB on the upper end, compared to 50 dB for the model of the PlasmaPro series.
Both can be set to auto mode, in which they will automatically adjust their fan speed based on air quality without you having to lift a finger. As soon as pollution levels start to decrease again after a sudden spike, their fan speed and noise level will go down accordingly.

24 – 48 dB(A)
22 – 50 dB(A)
Sensors & Display
Levoit’s AirSight Plus technology, which relies on a high-sensitivity laser dust sensor, allows the Core 300S and PlasmaPro 300S to continuously scan their surroundings for pollutants. This real-time data can then be used as input for the auto mode (see above).
On the top of both devices, you will find colored indicator rings that showcase the current air quality, with blue signifying very good and red being unhealthy. The same information is also available via the VeSync app (see below).

Connectivity & Compatibility
You can use a Wi-Fi connection, your smartphone, and the VeSync app to monitor and control both the Core 300S and PlasmaPro 300S remotely. This allows you to turn the purifier on and off, create a schedule, view the remaining filter life, and more.
If you have your hands full, you can even interact with the Core 300S and PlasmaPro 300S using only your voice. Thanks to their compatibility with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant, they can be seemingly integrated with your smart home.

Weight & Dimensions
In the final round of this Levoit Core 300S vs PlasmaPro 300S comparison, we will have a quick look at the weight and dimensions of the two devices. At just 2.7 kg (5.95 lb), they are easy to move from one room to another. Their width is barely above that of a DIN A4 paper.

Conclusion: Levoit Core 300S vs PlasmaPro 300S – Which is the Better Air Purifier?
The Levoit Air Purifier PlasmaPro 300S is the Core 300S with added PlasmaPro technology, which helps it break down particles, odorous gases, aerosols, and VOCs as well as airborne viruses and bacteria. That said, some of you might be worried about the ozone emitted.
At just 2.0 parts per billion (ppb), the PlasmaPro 300S comfortably meets the 50 ppb limit set by the California Air Resources Board. But if you are still sceptical, by all means opt for the otherwise identical Levoit Air Purifier Core 300S instead and save some money doing so.
