Comparison: Philips AC2936 vs AC3033 – What are the Differences?
Coverage Area
Philips recommends the AC2936 for rooms with a surface area of up to 98 m² (1,054 ft²). The AC3033 is suitable for even bigger rooms thanks to a coverage area of 135 m² (1,453 ft²).
The 3D Air Circulation system, which can be found in all Philips air purifiers, ensures that unpurified air is drawn in from all sides and then projected evenly throughout the room.

Clean Air Delivery Rate
Both certified by the European Centre for Allergy Research Foundation (ECARF), the AC2936 and AC3033 remove 99.97% of particles as small as 0.003 µm from the air using a pre-filter and a NanoProtect HEPA filter. Then, a layer of activated carbon deals with odors and gases.
The AC2936 does all this at a rate of 380 m³/h and would take eight minutes to purify the air in a room with a floor area of 20 m² and a height of 2.4 m. The AC3033 has an even higher Clean Air Delivery Rate (CADR) of 520 m³/h and would take only six minutes to do the job.

Working Noise
When set to sleep mode, the two devices operate extremely quietly at just 15 decibels (dB). Running at full speed, the more powerful AC3033 is slightly louder than its competitor. That said, you will probably not be able to hear the difference of just two dB.
In total, the AC2936 comes with three manual speed settings, one less than the AC3033. Both air purifiers can be set to automatic mode, in which they only run as fast and therefore as loud as needed. Once pollution levels decrease, the fan speed will decrease accordingly.

Sensors & Display
Smart sensors inside the AC2936 and AC3033 scan the air for ultrafine particles 1,000 times per second and detect any changes in air quality in real-time. This information can then be used as input for the automatic mode (see above).
An intuitive color ring on top of both devices allows you to check the pollution levels at a quick glance. The display also shows detailed data about the level of allergens, PM 2.5, and gases (AC3033), as well as the remaining filter life and other useful information.

Weight & Dimensions
In the last round of this Philips AC2936 vs AC3033 comparison, we will have a quick look at the weight and dimensions of the two air purifiers. Designed for smaller rooms than its successor, the AC2936 takes up less space overall and also has a lower weight.

290 x 290 x 645 mm, 6.8 kg
Conclusion: Philips AC2936 vs AC3033 – Which is the Better Air Purifier?
Aside from the higher coverage area and CADR, the Philips Air Purifier AC3033 is equipped with a special allergy sleep mode that effectively detects allergenic dust while keeping the sound level low. Additionally, it is also able to detect the level of gases in the air.
If you are lucky enough to not suffer from allergies, however, the Philips Air Purifier AC2936 might be all you need. Despite being less powerful than the AC3033, it should still be able to easily cover any room in your home, all the while selling at a lower price.
